Multidisciplinary chronic pain management
Pain NT is a team of pain-specialised allied health professionals, working in collaboration across several local Darwin-based businesses. Our goal is to provide best-practice, multidisciplinary chronic pain rehabilitation in a primary health care setting.
Persistent pain is best managed with an inter-professional approach, combining medical, physical and psychological therapies. Using these principles (known as a biopsychosocial approach), our program supports adults of all ages and life stages to understand pain, identify management strategies and set realistic goals to progress ongoing recovery. .

You will get a comprehensive assessment from our team of pain specialists – a Physiotherapist, an Occupational Therapist and a Psychologist. The team will fully assess your functional capacity, including return to work options, and identify any psychosocial barriers that are likely to inhibit full recovery.
Pain Rehab and Recovery Program
Designed for delivery in both groups and one-to-one, our pain recovery program typically runs for two half-days a week, over a 6 to 12 week period. The emphasis is on promoting self-management of pain, increasing function and planning a return to key life roles (including work, if appropriate). Tailored treatment goals are developed together with each patient.
For those awaiting intensive pain management treatment or wanting to learn more before committing further, our Maintenance program offers community-based exercise for people at risk of or currently experiencing a chronic illness or injury. Supervised by our Exercise Physiology team, the program can be supplemented with one-on-one physiotherapy, occupational therapy or psychology sessions to address specific barriers and prepare for more intensive treatment.
